Protecting the Health & Well-Being of over 100 Teams, all year-round.

Evanston Township Athletic Training serves an average of 5,200 student-athletes every year. We provide a wide range of different treatments to suit the need of every single one of them. On a regular basis, we offer:

  • Rehabilitation exercise programs for injury recovery.

  • Referrals to our team physicians & assistance with setting up doctors' appointments for any condition.

  • Taping/bracing to protect patients during participation.

  • First aid for wounds & other medical conditions.

  • Treatment using a variety of equipment designed to assist in injury recovery & injury prevention.

  • Concussion evaluations & ImPACT baseline testing for ALL students participating in sports OR school clubs.

Athletic Training Facility (G130) Guidelines

While we love to have a light, social atmosphere while we work with our athletes, there are some guidelines that everyone must follow to ensure we provide the best patient experience possible.

General ATR Guidelines

  • Everyone entering the Athletic Training Facility (ATF) MUST be fully clothed. Anyone missing any article of clothing will be asked to return to the locker room to dress.

  • Requests made for any treatment/taping/equipment must be asked for POLITELY. Student Athletic Trainers are available to ask what you need & provide you with an area to wait if the ATCs are busy with other tasks. Any student displaying rude/impolite behavior will be asked to leave the ATR & coaches will be notified of such behavior.

  • Dirty cleats/shoes will NOT be allowed in the ATR. Athletes must ensure that all soiled equipment is put away in their lockers prior to receiving treatment. Exceptions are made for athletes being evaluated directly from a game/practice.

  • Food/Drink is NOT allowed in the ATR. Athletes must ensure that all food & drink is finished and thrown away before entering the room.

  • If an athlete is completing rehabilitation exercises, an ImPACT post-injury test, or is going through an evaluation with an ATC then conversation MUST BE AT A MINIMUM. This is to prevent distractions & make time in the ATR as efficient as possible.

Signing In for Treatment, Evaluation, or Taping

  • ALL athletes must sign-in using the QR code posted throughout the training room PRIOR TO ANY SERVICE NEEDED.

  • If you do not have your phone, please ask one of the student athletic trainers or talk with the certified athletic trainer and they will work with you.

Treatment/Taping Expectations

  • It is highly recommended that student-athletes report as soon as possible after the school day has concluded to ensure that everyone gets to their practices/games on time. The athletic trainers arrive to the ATR at 11:30am every weekday; those with lunch OR free periods may complete rehabilitation/treatment during this time.

  • During busy times in the ATR (3:35pm to 4:15pm), ATCs will likely be occupied serving other student-athletes in need of assistance. Depending on the case, some athletes may experience a wait before they can be seen.

  • Student-athletes are expected to communicate any visit that may result in missed practice/competition time with their respective coaches BEFORE reporting to the ATR. This does not apply for those whom are injured at their practice or game.

  • Athletes that need taping/bracing will be handled in a first come, first serve basis.

  • Athletes that "check-out" equipment with an ATC are responsible for ensuring all equipment is put away & stored.

Physician Notes

  • Student-athletes MUST provide the athletic trainers with written documentation from an office/ER visit for injuries sustained both in-season and out-of-season. This is to ensure that the student-athlete receives care appropriate to the guidelines of the treating physician & for record-keeping purposes.

  • Once a student-athlete sees a healthcare provider for any injury, then that same treating provider must produce documentation notifying the athletic trainers that the student-athlete can safely return to play. If documentation is not provided, it will be assumed that the student cannot safely return to play, and the student will be NOT be cleared.

  • If a student-athlete & their parent/legal guardian(s) opt to return to full participation without proper clearance from a healthcare provider: An assumption of risk agreement will be made with the student's parent/legal guardian(s) & documented for record-keeping. This agreement will only stand if attempts to reach the treating physician are unsuccessful, and the athletic trainers do not anticipate further harm to the student-athlete.

  • Ultimately, the athletic trainers have a duty to keep each individual's health & safety in mind when clearing them to return. The athletic trainers reserve the right to delay return to sport IF it is believed that this decision would be detrimental to the student-athlete's safety.
